ONE Championship atomweight champion Angela Lee (7-0-0) will make a quick turnaround, defending her belt against two-time Brazilian Muay Thai world champion challenger Istela Nunes (5-0-0, 1NC) at the company’s Dynasty of Heroes show May 26 in Singapore.
MMA Crossfire Vault – Angela Lee news
Lee’s transition from promising newcomer to defending champion has been quick and nearly seamless. She defeated Mei Yamaguchi last year in a Fight-of-the-Year candidate to win the crown, then defended it convincingly against Jenny Huang in March.
Can the undefeated Nunes end Lee’s reign in approximately three weeks time?
“Angela Lee is a good opponent. I think it will be a good fight,” the 24-year-old said said in an interview with ONE Championship. “I know her strength is her ground (game), but I see openings on the ground and on her feet, the same way I have openings, so I cannot say that she is good or bad at something. I am going to impose my game.”

Former UFC strawweight Valerie Letourneau will make her Bellator flyweight debut against Emily Ducote at Bellator 181 July 14. Letourneau revealed the the news to reporter Ariel Helwani on his show The MMA Hour.
Irish boxer Katie Taylor (5-0-0, 3 KOs) is now the new WBA lightweight inter-continental champion after stopping Germany’s Nina Meinke in the seventh round at Wembley Stadium on April 29.
Taylor, 30, who won the 2012 Olympic gold medal is expected to fight Uruguay’s WBA world lightweight champion Cecila Comunales later this year.
Jess lost a unanimous decision to Sarah Kaufman, but apparently, she is not the only fighter who hasn’t been paid yet.
She shared the following on her Facebook page:
“So I still haven’t been paid. Which sucks balls. I haven’t been able to buy my car cos I was counting on this money to get me there. The worst part of it is my manager gave me enough money out of his own pocket to pay my half of my coaches and my rent and other bills because I put everything on hold for a month counting on that money coming in. So now not only am I out of a vehicle and the money to go home to see my family later in the year, I also owe my manager a tonne of cash cos he tried to help me out.
I was going to say that this is the fight game I guess… but in 2017 there is no way this bullshit should still be happening!
Hopefully media pressure will get the job done… who knows…

Yeah dude it sucks. One of the reasons I took a fight with such a high ranked opponent was cos I needed the $$$
