Invicta FC 24 returns to the familiar confines of the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City as Milana Dudieva takes on Mara Romero Borella in the modified flyweight main event.
In late news, the Mallory Martin vs Tiffany Masters preliminary fight is off, as Martin is in the hospital with swelling in her arm.
Not how I thought I would be spending the day before my fight… Unfortunately I won't be fight Saturday night. Wednesday my arm blew up and became swollen I got on antibiotics right away and was told that the swelling would be gone before the fight I had full intentions of fighting and was not even thinking of having to pull out of the fight…I woke up at 2am in the morning in severe pain un able to fall back a sleep and notice that my arm has doubled in size and was not getting any better. Instead of waking up to getting ready to cut the last few pounds, I was on my way to the hospital instead. I tried my hardest to still be able to fight but there was no way. It was a lot more serious then we thought and I'll be staying the night in the hospital😞😪. I'm sorry to my opponent Tiffany masters @teeffbot , I know how much goes in to preparing for a fight and coming all the way from Thailand this is the absolute worse, I feel absolutely terrible. Sorry to my fans that were looking forwards to watching me fight. And sorry to @invictafc I do hope to get this same match up once I'm all healed as I knew it was going to be an exciting fight…Sorry guys @ghick1 @dannyrube
Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the card.
FELICIA SPENCER (2-0-0) VS AMY COLEMAN (2-1-0)
Andrews: I like Spencer’s Invicta experience and expect her to take some starch out of Coleman with some striking to the body and then try to finish the fight in the later rounds. Coleman will try to use her power advantage but when the dust clears, Spencer will be standing.
Andrews Prediction: Felicia Spencer via unanimous decision
SUNNA RANNVEIG DAVIDSDOTTIR (2-0-0) VS KELLY D’ANGELO (2-0-0)
Andrews: Sunna is welcoming D’Angelo to the Invicta cage. Sunna is technical so, D’Angelo needs to rough her up and get the fight to the clinch or up against the cage or the ground. I don’t know if she can do that, so I am going with the Nordic warrior.
Andrews Prediction: Sunna Rannveig Davidsdottir via unanimous decision
MIRANDA MAVERICK (2-0-0) VS GABBY ROMERO (2-1-0)
Andrews: Both fighters have two submission wins, so it’s possible this fight will be fought on the feet. I am going with experience of The Maverick.
Andrews Prediction: Miranda Maverick via submission
KARINA RODRIGUEZ (4-2-0) VS BARBARA ACIOLY (4-0-0)
Andrews: This card has a lot of newcomers and we have two more here in Rodriguez and Acioly. Rodriguez likes to strike, while Acioly likes to work for the submission. Hard to tell who will enforce their gameplan, but every round begins standing, so I will go with Rodriguez.
Andrews Prediction: Karina Rodriguez via TKO
PAM SORENSON (5-2-0) VS HELENA KOLESNYK (5-0-0, 1NC)
Andrews: Sorenson looks like a game fighter, but the striking of the Ukrainian Kolesnyk will put her away.
Andrews Prediction: Helena Kolesnyk via TKO
JINH YU FREY (5-2-0) VS ASHLEY CUMMINS (5-3-0)
Andrews: Cummins is a tough fighter who can grind out wins with her grappling, but I don’t think Frey’s striking will let her get the fight to the ground.
Andrews Prediction: Jinh Yu Frey via unanimous decision
MILANA DUDIEVA (11-5-0) VS MARA ROMERO BORELLA (8-4-0)
Andrews: Tough call here. Dudieva is the more experienced fighter, with losses to good fighters in the UFC. I think that should help her overcome Borella, particularly in a five-round main event.
Andrews Prediction: Milana Dudieva via unanimous decision
