ONE Championship executive Chatri Sityodtong revealed on Facebook yesterday that current atomweight champion Angela Lee (8-0-0) will defend in a rematch against Mei Yamaguchi (16-10-0) while welterweight champ Ben Askren (17-0-0) will retire after facing former lightweight titleholder Shinya Aoki (39-7-0, 1NC) at Nov. 24’s Immortal Pursuit card in Singapore.
Lee, 21, submitted Istela Nunes de Souza in May to remain undefeated in eight bouts. Her previous bout with the Japanese native Yamaguchi in May 2016 was considered by many to be the female fight of the year, but in the rematch, she will have the hometown advantage.

Yamaguchi, 34, lost a close split-decision to Nunes de Souza in August 2016 and then submitted Jenny Huang in June since the loss to Lee.

Askren, 33, will attempt to move into the ONE Championship office as an executive undefeated in the cage after the bout with Aoki. He recently defeated Sebastian Kadestam convincingly at ONE Championship: Shanghai Sept. 2.
He has always done it his own way. @Benaskren has made the best look like amateurs. He won at prize fighting. Leaving the sport untouched.

It will not be an easy task for “Funky,” however. Aoki, 34, had a nine-fight win streak snapped by Eduard Folayang in November 2016.
