Bellator 172 – Patricky Freire stops Josh Thomson with second round TKO

Patricky Freire outstruck Josh Thomson, scoring a knockout 40 seconds into the second round last night at Bellator 172 in San Jose, California. After a relatively uneventful three minutes, Freire landed an overhand right counter that floored Thomson. Thomson recovered though, finishing out the round with some limited offence. In the second round, the two clashed heads, which knocked Thomson down. “The Punk” got up, but appeared to be still feeling the effects and went for a takedown, which “Pitbull” landed a perfectly timed uppercut to force referee John McCarthy to stop the bout. Sneaky right uppercut ends Josh...

UFC Fight Night 105: Lewis vs Browne predictions

The UFC is in Halifax, Nova Scotia as heavyweights No.8 Derrick Lewis (17-4-0) and No.9 Travis Browne (18-5-1) lock horns in the main event. Browne was once considered a can’t-miss prospect, but has gone 2-4-0 since 2014. “Hapa” is looking for an impressive win to generate some needed momentum. Lewis is that guy with the momentum in the division, riding a five-fight win streak. A win over Browne probably moves “The Black Beast” into the top-5. Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the main card. MAIN CARD 9PM ET/6PM PT PAUL FELDER (12-3-0) VS ALESSANDRO RICCI (10-4-0)...

Roy Jones Jr. scores TKO win, answers challenge by Imamu Mayfield

New WBF cruiserweight champion Roy Jones Jr. (64-9-0, 46 KOs) was dominant in a 8th-round TKO win over Canadian Bobby Gunn (21-7-1, 18 KOs) last night at the Chase Center in Wilmington, Delaware. Only one fighter was really in the fight, with the 48-year-old Jones feeding the 43-year-old Gunn a steady diet of jabs and combinations. It culminated in the seventh round when a vintage Jones straight left jab-right hook-left hook combination wobbled Gunn late. Gunn’s nose started bleeding and seconds into the eighth, the referee stopped the bout. Jones was equally vintage in the post-fight interview, answering a potential...
