MMA Crossfire – TUF 20: Ep. 7 thoughts

Finally.

We hinted it in our Episode 6 thoughts and  yes, Team Melendez got off the snide in Episode 7. Rose Namajunas brought it home with a first-round submission win over Team Pettis’ Alex Chambers.

The score is now 6-1 for Team Pettis.

Unfortunately, the win doesn’t do much else for Team Melendez, as there’s only one fight left.

Still.

Welcome back to The Crossfire.

Andrews: We see more of the tension that has camped over Team Melendez. Lisa Ellis and Heather Clark continue to attract the ire with their less than participatory nature. But it turns out Clark has a full ACL tear. That seems to set everyone straight.

Sydney Leroux and Megfan Rapinoe of the US women’s soccer team answer some questions and let me say right now that this season will be looked back years from now as one of the most important seasons of TUF.

On to the fight:

It was not the best performance for Alex Chambers. She landed a nice right hand early but was outstruck by Namajunas and could not defend the takedown that led to her rear naked choke submission loss.

Coach Anthony Pettis thought Alex let Rose get to her mentally, and given the results, it’s hard to disagree.

Episode 8 will feature Tecia Torres, on her second chance with Team Pettis battling Team Melendez’s “Rowdy” Bec Rawlings.

What will happen, for controversy’s sake, if Tecia ends up winning the title?
