After The Crossfire – UPDATED – UFC Fight Night 56: Shogun vs Saint Preux

Ovince St. Preux capitalized with left hooks on a missed strike from Mauricio “Shogun” Rua to silence the Brazilian crowd with a quick TKO victory in the main event of UFC Fight Night 56.

It only took 34 seconds.

“I still going to be a big Shogun fan, but it’s just one of them things. In order to become a legend, you have to beat a legend,” he said to UFC broadcaster Jon Anik afterwards in the cage.

ANDREWS PREDICTION: JULIANA LIMA VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION (29-28).

WINNER: JULIANA LIMA VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION

ANDREWS: This fight was not a barnburner, but Lima’s experience proved valuable in combatting the bigger more powerful, but less experienced Ansaroff. Ansaroff needs to recognize when she’s trailing and go for it accordingly.

CLAUDIO “HANNIBAL” SILVA VS LEON “ROCKY” EDWARDS

ANDREWS PREDICTION: CLAUDIO SILVA VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION

WINNER: CLAUDIO SILVA VIA SPLIT-DECISION

ANDREWS: Silva barely won but exposed his cardio and standup issues in the process. He needs to improve on both to make a living in the division Hard luck for Edwards, but he showed good tactics for the most part. He just needed to keep the fight standing in critical moments of the the bout. He’ll be back.

WARLLEY ALVES VS ALAN “BRAHMA” JOUBAN

ANDREWS PREDICTION: ALAN JOUBAN VIA SPLIT-DECISION

WINNER: WARLLEY ALVES VIA UNANIMOUS-DECISION (29-28).

ANDREWS: Jouban was robbed. Even the Brazilian fans booed the decision. Great action in the first round wit Alves racing off to a fast start and Jouban taking the last half. I felt Jouban took the second and third rounds as the busier fighter. As long he stayed on the feet, he took the starch out of Alves with those crisp short elbows and combos. Alves landed some power right hands, but gassed, while Jouban finished strong. Great performance by Jouban, especially after nearly getting finished in the first two minutes. It’s pretty much a guarantee Dana White will take care of Jouban.

#3 IAN “UNCLE CREEPY” MCCALL VS #6 “HANDS OF STONE” JOHN LINEKER

NOTE: FIGHT IS CANCELLED DUE TO MCCALL TAKING ILL AFTER THE WEIGH-INS

ANDREWS PREDICTION: OVINCE ST. PREUX VIA TKO

WINNER: OVINCE ST. PREUX VIA TKO

ANDREWS: As predicted, OSP went to work right away, cashing in on a missed strike from Shogun and put it to bed in less than a minute. Great win for OSP.

Andrews Prediction: Ovince St. Preux via TKO.
