#1 Tecia Torres and #8 Bec Rawlings hooked it up in Episode 8 of TUF 20 last night.
Torres is not particularly liked in the house for getting a second chance, but it’s not like she’s going to let that stop her.
It was time for her to earn her #1 seeding, but Team Melendez and Rowdy Bec had other plans.
Welcome back to The Crossfire.
MMA Crossfire Expert Cassie Wiseman is away, so Kenai Andrews fills in with his thoughts.
Andrews: When opponents have to sleep in the same house, drama is going to occur. Fortunately, the fight always tells the tale.
This is the last fight before the quarterfinals.
I thought Tecia eked out Round One by landing more strikes. Bec successfully pressured Torres and she succeeded, but could not land the follow-up shots.
Bec continued to pressure Tecia in round two and landed an early takedown as a reward but could not do much damage.
Tecia got back up quickly and landed a late takedown and top control.
The judges award Tecia Torres the victory via unanimous decision.
A good performance by both fighters.
The quarterfinals look like:
#6 Felice Herrig vs #14 Randa Markos
#4 Jessica Penne vs #6 Aisling Daly
#1 Carla Esparza vs #3 Tecia Torres
#2 Joanne Calderwood vs #7 Rose Namajunas
Calderwood and Namajunas looks to be an exciting battle.
