In lieu of Mirosław Okniński stepping down due to growing national professional league commitments, the Polish MMA Federation (PLMMAF) announced their new president Karol Matuszczak today.
Matuszczak made history, competing in the first Polish MMA bout in 2000.
Welcome back to The Crossfire.
“The IMMAF board very much looks forward to working with Karol Matuszczak as the new president of the IMMAF,” IMMAF Director of Communications, Isobel Carnwath said. “Karol Matuszczak is a true pioneer and recognized as perhaps the first practitioner of MMA and BJJ in Poland. He is highly regarded within the European MMA community.”
“Okniński continues to work with the federation in a more technical role as a vastly experienced trainer,” added PLMMAF. “Miroslaw Okniński also made the decision in order to make a clear statement that there cannot be any conflict of interest on the board of the PLMMAF.”
In addition to being a BJJ practitioner under Roy Harris and other accomplishments, he is regarded for organizing BJJ seminars and the leaders of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association Poland and BJJ Poland.
