Bodybuilder Ferlan Bailey joins MMA Crossfire

MMA Crossfire is proud to announce the addition of bodybuilding competitor Ferlan Bailey to the editorial staff.

He will be writing a bodybuilding column starting in August.

Bailey was born and raised on the island of Grenada, before moving to Orlando, Florida at the age of thirteen.

“My family did just about everything that was needed on the island,” he said to MMA Crossfire. ” If someone needed a ride then they were the cab service, if someone died then they were the mortician, if someone needed a car fixed then they were the mechanics. No job was too great and no need was too small.

“Growing up, watching this work ethic has given me the perfect examples of dedication, strength and perseverance that are the foundation of my life and my bodybuilding journey.”

He started competing five years ago, becoming a regular on the National Physique Committee (NPC) circuit.

Some of Bailey’s accomplishments include:

  • 2011 NPC Hurricane Bay Heavyweight class winner and Overall winner
  • 2013 NPC Battle on the Coast Heavyweight Over-35 class and Masters Overall winner
  • 2014 NPC Mid-Florida Muscle Classic, Heavyweight class Over-40 winner
  • 2014 North American Championships Heavyweight class, Over-35 and Over-40 competitor.

“I took 2012 off from competing so that I could put on some size and also pursue another goal of becoming a firefighter,” he explained. “After conquering that goal and then going on to get hired on by the City of Eustis, Florida, I was able to refocus back on competing.”

Standing 5′ 11″ and 240 pounds, one of Bailey’s immediate goals is to compete professionally in the International Federation of BodyBuilding Professional League (IFBB Pro), considered the UFC of bodybuilding.

“It’s the best of the best,” Bailey said.

“I am continuously learning more about myself and attempting to grow as a person, so that once I achieve my goal I will not only be able to celebrate my victory, but also be able to celebrate who I’ve become.

“It is completely about the journey; that is where the true victory resides…everything else is just icing on the cake.”

Please join The Crossfire in welcoming Ferlan to the team.
