Glover Teixeira secured a third round rear-naked choke submission over Ovince St. Preux at UFC Fight Night 73 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Teixieria used his wrestling to wear down the striking of OSP, who had Teixeira rocked in the first round, but failed to capitalize.

TSN 2 PRELIMS
#14 RAY BORG VS GEANE HERRERA
Note: Ray Borg missed weight, coming in at 126.75 pounds. He will be fined 20% of his purse.
WINNER: RAY BORG VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
WISEMAN PREDICTION: RAY BORG VIA SUBMISSION
Wiseman: As expected, this was a ground game. The problem is that Herrera showed tonight that he can’t stuff a takedown at all. He has fantastic ground game defence, but Borg was in top position for basically 98% of the match. Herrera will grow from this, but Borg totally dominated from the beginning to the end for the decision win.
#4 SARA MCMANN VS #7 AMANDA NUNES
Note: McMann missed weight, coming in at 136. 5 pounds.
WINNER: AMANDA NUNES VIA TKO R1 2:53
WISEMAN PREDICTION: SARA MCMANN VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION
Wiseman: McMann needed to get the takedown and in a hurry because of the striking of Nunes. The problem is that McMann didn’t get a takedown, Nunes stuffed her attempts, and her striking hurt McMann in a hurry. From being rocked, Nunes got some serious ground-and-pound in, transition to submission for the tap. Awesome fight for Nunes.
JARED ROSHOLT VS TIMOTHY JOHNSON
WINNER: JARED ROSHOLT VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
WISEMAN PREDICTION: TIMOTHY JOHNSON VIA TKO
Wiseman: Johnson used his aggression in the first round to keep things against the cage in the first round, but Rosholt came back in the second round. The third round had Rosholt with a takedown, but Johnson came back towards the end with heavy shots, then a takedown of his own. However, Johnson’s cardio was a problem and Rosholt controlled more.
#15 DEREK BRUNSON VS SAM ALVEY
WINNER: DEREK BRUNSON VIA TKO R1 2:19
WISEMAN PREDICITON: SAM ALVEY VIA TKO
Wiseman: Brunson was smart going into this fight. He knew the power of Alvey and didn’t want to give him a second to strike, so he closed the gap in a hurry. He was sloppy and lunging forward throwing bombs, but he did it to make sure he didn’t give Alvey a chance to use his striking. Very smart. He rocked Alvey, overwhelmed him, and got the stoppage in the first round.
#5 MICHAEL JOHNSON VS #12 BENEIL DARIISH
WINNER: BENEIL DARIUSH VIA SPLIT DECISION (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
WISEMAN PREDICTION: MICHAEL JOHNSON VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION
Wiseman: The judges, I don’t know what they saw, but in the video game they played, Dariush won. It was a ridiculous call! Everyone who watched the fight knows it, but the judges just showed another reason why you need to finish. Really it was the striking of Johnson that was the key to success. The speed of Johnson, his foot work, and his dominance in striking gave him the fight. Dariush is a great fighter, but the fact that he couldn’t get things to the mat in either round, really threw a wrench in his game plan. Johnson stuffed everything and just stuck to his plan of out striking Dariush. Great fight, bad call by the judges.
#4 GLOVER TEIXEIRA VS #6 OVINCE ST. PREUX
WINNER: GLOVER TEIXEIRA VIA SUBMISSION R3 3:10
WISEMAN PREDICTION: OVINCE ST. PREUX VIA TKO
Wiseman: It all comes down to skill matched together with the right game plan. Tonight, Teixeira used his skills of his ground game, matched it with an exhausting game plan of grinding and wrestling, got the submission win in the 3rd round. OSP revealed that he still doesn’t have his takedown defence or ground game where he needs it. Teixeira showed that he is still very much so a force to be taken seriously.
