MMA Crossfire – UFC to open gym in Mississauga this Fall
The UFC announced yesterday on UFC.com it intends to open a gym in Mississauga in the fall.
3900 Grand Park Drive will house just the second UFC gym in Canada. The first one opened last month in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
Welcome back to The Crossfire.
The company has a travelling gym dubbed the UFC Gym Mobile Experience at the location along with a preview centre to enrol new members and offer special membership rates.
The facility is 10,100 square-feet and features a 24-foot octagon.
“UFC is ecstatic to open its first UFC GYM location in the province of Ontario,” Tom Wright, UFC Executive Vice-President and General Manager for Canada, Australia and New Zealand said. “UFC fighters are the most complete athletes in the world and mixed martial arts provides a blueprint for supreme health and fitness. UFC GYM offers a world-class training facility and innovative Train Different approach for Ontarians of all ages and skill levels.”
“We are thrilled and honored to bring the UFC GYM Train Different philosophy to Ontario. Our first gym will truly be an incredible facility and we are excited to showcase all the features and amenities to the local community,” Roland Bissoon, UFC GYM’s partner in Ontario added. “Unlike other gyms, our coaches include professional caliber athletes with years of experience in an array of training disciplines, eager to share their knowledge and passion with our members. We will be offering powerful programs and training techniques that re-define how fitness should be experienced. With this new fitness facility, our youth training facilities, and specialized MMA coaching, our goal is to create a community for all ages and fitness levels that is inviting, inclusive, encouraging and inspiring.”
Bissoon is a business executive and a former president of Toronto-based Canadian Bearing Ltd. He elaborated that more UFC GYM locations are planned in Ontario. “For the first time, Ontarians will get a chance to experience what makes UFC GYM different. Tens of thousands of members have gone through transformations, learned powerful techniques and re-defined how fitness and training should be experienced.”
Rate information was not announced.
It is possible that the UFC may use the facility to house open gym fighter workouts whenever an event is hosted in Toronto. At previous Toronto shows , former UFC champion and hall-of-famer Randy Couture’s Extreme Couture gym in Etobicoke was primarily used for that purpose.
