After The Crossfire – Invicta FC 14: Evinger vs Kianzad

Invicta FC bantamweight champion Tonya Evinger defeated Swedish challenger Pannie Kianzad with a second round submission  at Invicta FC 14 in Kansas City.

Kianzad failed to make weight for the contest, which was originally a title fight for Evinger’s belt.

It was Kianzad’s first loss in the cage.

RACHEL WILEY VS FELICIA SPENCER

ANDREWS PREDICTION: RACHEL WILEY VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION

WINNER: FELICIA SPENCER VIA TKO R1 3:32

Wiseman:: It was the pro debut for both ladies, but that certainly didn’t show as they wasted no time. Spencer was very quick to rush for the clinch and got a takedown. From there it was all Spencer. Her ground-and-pound was brutal. Her elbows smashed the forehead of Wiley and she switched her strikes from one side of the forehead to the other. Just a mess as Wiley’s head became deformed. The ref stepped in for the stoppage.

ASPEN LADD VS AMANDA BOBBY COOPER

ANDREWS PREDICITON: AMANDA BOBBY COOPER VIA SUBMISSION

WINNER: ASPEN LADD VIA SUBMISSION R2 4:42

Wiseman: Cooper had been out for sixteen months, so it was no surprise that she was excited. You could see it on her face, the focus and determination. However, she was battling against a beast tonight. Ladd, while she doesn’t look vicious, looks are decieving. Ladd got into a clinch, controlled it, and dominated in the ground game. In the second round she just poured on the strikes and got the TKO finish. Awesome pace and dominance.

JJ ALDRICH VS ROSA ACEVEDO

ANDREWS PREDICTION: ROSE ACEVEDO VIA SUBMISSION

WINNER: JJ ALDRICH VIA TKO R1 2:24

Wiseman: Acevedo having taken this fight on two weeks notice deserves credit just for stepping up. She had a challenge cut out for her though against the striking of Aldrich. Able to keep distance on her side and mixing up the levels, then by throwing knees, Aldrich secured the TKO finish in the first round.

JINH YU FREY VS LIZ MCCARTHY

ANDREWS PREDICTION: JINH YU FREY VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION

WINNER: JINH YU FREY VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

Wiseman: A technical fight put on by these two ladies. Frey came in the favorite on paper, but McCarthy certainly showed that she is no one to sleep on. Her counter striking was able to make things a challenge. Frey, however, mixed up levels and showed off her new wrestling to get the decision win.

JAMIE MOYLE VS SHARON JACOBSON

ANDREWS PREDICTION: JAIME MOYLE VIA TKO

WINNER: SHARON JACOBSON VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Wiseman: Ultimately it was the clinch game of Jacobson that gave her the match. Moyle just not able to get off the cage enough to get more of her striking going. Moyle showed her heart and was a tough match, but the clinch of Jacobson was the secret to her success tonight.

CINDY DANDOIS VS MEGAN ANDERSON

ANDREWS PREDICTION: CINDY DANDOIS VIA SUBMISSION

WINNER: CINDY DANDOIS VIA SUBMISSION

Wiseman: What can I say about this fight? Dandois has a triangle and can lay on someone. This is how she won. Anderson wasn’t able to keep distance and let Dandois work her strengths. Dandois needs to work on striking but has her bread and butter working for her if she can close the distance.

RACHAEL OSTOVICH VS ANDREA LEE

ANDREWS PREDICTION: RACHAEL OSTOVICH VIA SPLIT-DECISION

WINNER: ANDREA LEE VIA SUBMISSION R3 4:59

Wiseman: Lee really put on a sick show. Her striking, doing damage to the body, kicks, submission attempts. Incredible display of all the facets of her MMA game.

ROXANNE MODAFFERI  VS MARIANA MORAIS

ANDREWS PREDICTION: ROXANNE MODAFFERI VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION

WINNER: ROXANNE MODAFFERI VIA TKO R3 4:40

Wiseman: The grappling and submission is Modafferi really tested the 19-year-old Morais for the entire fight. Morais wasn’t able to get Modafferi off her when she was in full mount, and Modafferi certainly wanted the win. She pushed through and got it in the final round.

KATJA KANKAANPAA VS DEANNA BENNETT

ANDREWS PREDICTION: KATJA KANKAANPAA VIA SPLIT-DECISION

WINNER: DEANNA BENNETT VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Wiseman: The grappling of KK was very much like Clay Guida. The entire fight she was on top. However, the judges were watching cartoons and DB was given the win. From the weight cut to her performance, DB didn’t represent herself well. KK great fight and hopefully DB gets things in order for her next fight so she can represent herself as she wants to be seen.

ANDREWS PREDICTION: TONYA EVINGER VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION

WINNER: TONYA EVINGER VIA SUBMISSION R2 3:34

Wiseman: Evinger really took control of the situation from the very beginning of the fight. Her grappling and ability to control on the mat, matched with her power gave her an easy win in the second round.
