Urijah Faber ‘honoured’ as inductee to Sacramento’s sports hall of fame

Current UFC bantamweight Urijah Faber (33-8-0) will be inducted into the Sacramento Sports Hall-of-Fame January 30th.

Faber is part of a number of local born athletes being recognized for their athletic careers.

Olympic gold medallist track star Evelyn Ashford plus former major league baseballers Larry Bowa, Jerry Manuel and Jerry Royster are also being inducted.

Faber, who started professionally in 2003, is a former WEC featherweight champion and fought twice for the UFC bantamweight title, losing to Renan Barao and Dominick Cruz.  He recently defeated Frankie Saenz at UFC 194.

He is currently ranked #3 in the bantamweight division.
