Invicta FC 15: Cyborg vs Ibragimova predictions

Russian Daria Ibragimova (9-1-0) is the latest featherweight with dreams of toppling the massive favourite that is the champion Cristiane Justino (14-1-0, 1 NC) at Invicta FC 15’s main event.

She has her work cut out for her. Cyborg has proved quick and tidy in her defences.

Meanwhile, Ediane Gomes, after needing help from MMA fans to deal with pre-fight medical expenses, had complications making weight for her with Amanda Bell. Her fight has been cancelled.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Gomes had complications making weight for the fight, and thus her fight with Amanda Bell has been cancelled.

MEGAN ANDERSON (4-2-0) VS AMBER LEIBROCK (1-0)

Wiseman: Leibrock is still fresh in the pro ranks, but don’t leave your chin out. She has all the knockout power needed to finish a fight. Plus, she is no fool on the mat. Anderson has more experience and is the stronger grappler/submission fighter, but not going to be an easy fight unless someone shows up from a style-changing camp.

Wiseman Prediction: Megan Anderson via split-decision.

RAQUEL PA’ALUHI (5-4-0) VS COLLEEN SCHNEIDER (9-6-0)

EDITOR’S NOTE: Schneider weighed in at 136.4 pounds on her initial attempt. She was fined 25% of her purse for missing weight.

Wiseman: If Pa’aluhi is against a striker, she holds her own. We saw this against Ediane Gomes and Kaitlin Young. However, when she fights someone with versatility, she fails. Schneider is exactly that, well-rounded. Schneider will bring things to the mat, where Pa’aluhi is her weakest, then take the match from there.

Wiseman Prediction: Colleen Schneider via submission.

LACEY SCHUCKMAN (11-8-0) VS MIZUKI INOUE (9-4-0)

Wiseman: Inoue has a dangerous opponent on her hands. Schuckman has knockout power and barely lost to good competition like Michelle Waterson.  She also has a rash of submission wins. Inoue needs to be methodically wear her down and get the fight to the ground but I think Shuckman will catch her before she does.

Wiseman Prediction: Lacey Shuckman via submission

ANGELA HILL (2-2-0) VS ALIDA GRAY (4-2-0)

Wiseman: If someone will stay standing with Hill, she stands a slight chance. However, Gray will use her judo and submission game to get things to the mat. Gray has striking power, but it isn’t where she is her strongest. However, Hill hasn’t had the best of luck with her MMA career and Gray isn’t the opponent to start her Invicta FC career.

Wiseman Prediction: Alida Gray via submission.

AMBER BROWN (5-1-0) VS SHINO VANHOOSE (4-3-0)

Wiseman: VanHoose doesn’t have the best record or the best of luck, however you want to look at it. She is going against a well-rounded Brown. I mean, power, ground game, striking combinations, etc., it’s all Brown. Ultimately, I see Brown and her experience, as well as skills, giving her the ability to enforce her gameplan. Strikes, close the gap, transition for a takedown, then a submission. The first round being a feeling out process while the second round will be time to end the night for VanHoose.

Wiseman Prediction: Amber Brown via submission.

(C) LIVIA RENATA SOUZA (8-0-0) VS DEANNA BENNETT (8-0-0)

Invicta FC 15

Wiseman: The problem with Souza is the fact that her striking is still so far behind where she needs it. Bennett’s striking isn’t off the charts, but she does have knockout power, and she will use her striking to keep Souza at a distance. Problem is that Souza only needs to catch a hang nail and it’s over. And Souza will get things to the mat, whether it’s her running straight through strikes, or pull guard, the fight will go to the mat.

Wiseman Prediction: Livia Renata Souza via submission.

MAIN EVENT

CRISTIANE “CYBORG” JUSTINO (14-1-0, 1NC) VS DARIA IBRAGIMOVA (9-1-0)

Invicta FC 15

Courtesy Esther Lin/Invicta FC.

Wiseman: I honestly feel bad for anyone that goes against Cyborg. Cyborg is the MMA fighter who goes to a Muay Thai compeition out of season. Sure, she lost, but my point is that she is always throwing herself into situations where she is tested. Ibragimova has never been tested like Cyborg, nor has she fasted anyone that hits as hard as Cyborg. We will see Cyborg come out, throwing a flurry of punches. Ibragimova will cover, end up against the cage, and Cyborg will pound the life out of her. Just doomed!

Wiseman Prediction: Cyborg via TKO.
