WWE Hall-of-Famer Bret Hart prepares to battle prostrate cancer

WWE Hall-of-Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart took to Instagram to announce his battle with prostrate cancer.

The 58-year-old explained he’s paid a heavy price for his success in professional wrestling. He’s scheduled to undergo surgery in the “the next few days.”

Hart is revered by many in the combat sports community. He is remembered for his many championships in the WWE and WCW.

“Most likely you have now heard my brother Bret has now also been diagnosed with prostate cancer,” said Hart’s brother Smith on his Facebook page.  “I certainly hope Bret is not experiencing the same day to day pain that I am day to day, which makes any dungeon training feel like a walk in the park. Now with 2 Hart brothers stricken with the same horrible disease, hopefully my brothers Bruce, Keith, Wayne and Ross will get themselves checked also. My prayers to you Bret, I love you.”

Born in Calgary, Alberta into the illustrious Hart Family anchored by the late Stu and Helen Hart, he was inducted into the WWE Hall-of-Fame in 2006.

He published his memoirs in 2008.
