UFC Fight Night 83 – Cerrone uses the triangle to submit Oliveira

Donald Cerrone used a triangle to submit a game Alex Oliveira in the first round at UFC Fight Night 83.

Donald set up the submission with a takedown after a fight hand by Oliveira. Oliveira’s open guard allowed Cerrone to easily mount and apply the triangle.

Kelly Faszholz and Lauren Murphy earned Fight-of-the-Night honours while Cerrone and Chris Camozzi grabbed Performances-of-the-Night awards. Each fighter earned a $50,000 USD bonus.

ANDREWS PREDICTION: JAMES KRAUSE VIA SUBMISSION

Andrews: Krause almost finished Campbell at the end of the first round but the Canadian gamely fought on, but the striking and control of Krause was too much.

Andrews: Unfortunately, technical problems at the time prevented me from seeing this live, but thanks to Twitter I did see the knees that broke Joe Riggs. I have to tip my cap to Camozzi; he got it done and quickly.

Andrews: Bermudez used his own grappling to neutralize the grappling of Kawajiri and added some timely strikes. Great win for Bermudez.

Andrews: Brunson took advantage of a single mistake of Carniero to rain strikes down on him for the first round stoppage. Impressive win for Brunson.

Andrews: Cerrone just fought without thinking too much. Then, he used the skills in his tool belt when Oliveira gifted him the open guard. A good win for Cerrone, but now he needs to be more consistent.
