Invicta FC 17: Evinger vs Schneider predictions

There have been some last changes to the Invicta FC 17 card, but overall it looks like another interesting night of fights in Costa Mesa, California.

Bantamweight champion Tonya Evinger (17-5-0) defends against Colleen Schneider (10-6-0) in the main event.

Welcome back to The Crossfire.

Kenai Andrews shares his thoughts on the card.

Invicta FC 17

In case you missed the weigh-ins:

PRELIMS

LAURA HOWARTH (2-1-0) VS ALEXA CONNERS (0-0-0)

Invicta FC 17

Andrews: Howarth has a bit of an experience advantage over Conners, but I’m concerned about her last fight; a TKO (retirement) loss. From what I’ve seen on Youtube, Conners is an average to decent striker and Howarth’s wins are all decisions. I’m going with the upset.

Andrews Prediction: Alexa Conners via TKO

RACHAEL OSTOVICH (2-2-0) VS ARIEL BECK (3-2-0)

Invicta FC 17

Andrews: Ostovich will be welcoming Beck into the Invicta FC cage. She should be motivated after a tough loss to Andrea Lee in her last fight.  But she’s giving up height and reach advantages to a fighter whose 2015 fight with Lee was tabbed as the 2015 female fight of the year. Can Beck stop the takedown? I don’t think she can. Although Beck is tough, I don’t think she can generate enough offence if Ostovich is on her ground game.

Andrews Prediction: Rachael Ostovich via unanimous decision

CHRISTINE STANLEY (4-1-0) VS SHANNON SINN (2-2-0)

Invicta FC 17

Andrews: Stanley is a former teammate of Ilima-Lei MacFarlane. She’s fighting an opponent suited to her in Sinn. Shannon likes to fight and is aggressive, but Stanley has more tools to win the fight.

Andrews Prediction: Christine Stanley via unanimous decision

AMANDA BELL (3-3-0) VS MEGAN ANDERSON (5-2-0)

Invicta FC 17

Andrews: Anderson is a tall featherweight, but she was taken to the ground and submitted by Cindy Dandois. However, she did TKO win her last fight. Bell lost to Faith Van Duin. Tough one to call, my gut says Anderson.

Andrews Prediction: Megan Anderson via TKO

ALINE SERIO (9-5-0) VS KALINE MEDERIOS (6-4-0)

Invicta FC 17

Andrews: Tough fight to call. Mederios is replacing Mizuki Inoue on short notice though she seems to be more experienced, she’s five years older than Serio. I’m taking Hannibal.

Andrews Prediction: Aline Serio via TKO

LATOYA WALKER (5-0-0) VS CHARMAINE TWEET (8-5-0)

Invicta FC 17

Andrews: Walker’s convincing win over Peggy Morgan made me a believer. She not only has power, but cardio too. And Tweet is one big target that Walker loves to knock down. Tweet is returning to Invicta after a loss to Cyborg and a couple of wins at Prestige FC. She is a tough Prairie Lily, but I have to with Walker.

Andrews Prediction: Latoya Walker via TKO

LIVIA RENATA SOUZA (9-0-0) VS ANGELA HILL (4-2-0)

Invicta FC 17

Andrews: Interesting fight. Can Hill knock out Souza before it goes to the ground? That’s the big question, because Hill has shown it only takes one shot. She was impressive planting the versatile Stephanie Eggink. But I think Souza will have a good gameplan to avoid the strikes and drag the fight to the ground.

Andrews Prediction: Livia Rena Souza via unanimous decision

MAIN EVENT

TONYA EVINGER (17-5-0) VS COLLEEN SCHNEIDER (10-6-0)

Invicta FC 17

Andrews: Evinger should be able to comfortably take this on points if she uses her grappling and striking. Schneider upset Raquel Pa’ Aluhi in a bizarre delay in her last fight. she is competent, but I think Evinger will wear down Schneider and get the decision win.

Andrews Prediction: Tonya Evinger via unanimous decision
