UFC Fight Night 87: Overeem caps big night for Holland with TKO win over Arlovski

Amsterdam native Alistair Overeem scored an impressive win over Andrei Arlovski in the main event at UFC Fight Night 87 in The Netherlands.

After Arlovski pressured Overeem for the first half of the first round, Overeem got a takedown and started to take the momentum from The Pitbull with body kicks.

The finish came 1:12 into the second round. Overeem connected with a switch kick followed up by a quick left hook that dropped Arlovski and after a few strikes, referee Marc Goddard was forced to call the bout.

No Fight-of-the-Night was awarded but Overeem, Stefan Stuve, Germaine de Randamie and Gunnar Nelsons all earned $50,000 USD awards apiece.

Andrews: Krylov took advantage of a mistake by the ref who did not stand up the fighters after her committed an headbutt foul. He took the back  and clamped o the choke quickly.  You have to wonder what could have happened if the ref stood them up.

Andrews: Overeem stole the momentum from Arlovski in the second half of the first round with body kicks and a takedown. Then in the second, he connected on a switch kick and a quick left hook out of nowhere that dropped The Pitbull. Once Overeem started to find his range, the fight was over. Good win for Reema and hard luck for Arlovski.
