Dos Anjos pressured Alvarez early and landed his vaunted left leg kick and left hand, but Alvarez used feints and deadly accuracy to create the distance and window to land the pivotal right hand that buckled dos Anjos. Only his will to win kept him upright as Alvarez swarmed to the head and body with sniping shots. But`after dozens of unanswered shots, referee Herb Dean was forced to call the bout.

Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the main card:
JOE DUFFY VS MITCH CLARKE
WINNER: JOE DUFFY VIA SUBMISSION R1 0:25
ANDREWS PREDICTION: JOE DUFFY VIA UNANIMOUS DECISION
Andrews: Impressive work by Duffy, planting Clarke with the right hand and then swarming for the rear-naked choke. Clarke just got caught and wasn’t able to bring the fight to the ground. Excellent win for Irish Joe.
ALAN JOUBAN VS BELAL MUHAMMAD
WINNER: ALAN JOUBAN VIA UNANIMOUS DECISON (28-27, 29-28, 29-27)
ANDREWS PREDICTION: ALAN JOUBAN VIA TKO
Andrews: Easily the fight of the night. Jouban scored three knockdowns but couldn’t put Muhammad away. And Muhammad came on strong in the third round. Fantastic fight, someone buy both these guys a beer.
#10 ROY NELSON VS #12 DERRICK LEWIS
WINNER: DERRICK LEWIS VIA SPLIT-DECISION
ANDREWS PREDICTION: ROY NELSON VIA TKO
Andrews: Lewis may have won, but he should have put Nelson away with those shots. Then he gassed, which allowed Nelson to almost steal the fight. Nelson took a lot of shots once again, but needs to be in better shape. Period.
RAFAEL DOS ANJOS VS #2 EDDIE ALVAREZ
WINNER: EDDIE ALVAREZ VIA TKO R1 3:49
ANDREWS PREDICTION: EDDIE ALVAREZ VIA SPLIT-DECISION
Andrews: What a performance by Alvarez. He overcame the early pressure of dos Anjos with those sniping shots, then swarmed when he saw dos Anjos was hurt. We saw the old and new strategic Eddie Alvarez and they both sealed the deal.
