Quebec’s former two-time world boxing champion Ariane Fortin lost a split-decision to Kazakhstan’s Daria Shakimova this morning in her opening bout at Rio 2016.
Shakimova, a former two-time Asian champion, emerged with a 2-1 victory and advances to the next round. The official scores were 37-39, 39-37 and 38-38.
The loss eliminates Fortin from Olympic competition.
