The 41st annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) runs from Sept. 8 to Sept. 18. As usual, there are a number of big films premiering.
But, we’re also fight fans.
So, let’s take a look at three interesting TIFF 2016 action films.
Welcome back to The Crossfire.
We begin with.
Bleed for This is an American boxing biography of former champion Vinny Paz. The film had its original premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, and is scheduled for North American release November 4th.
Bleed seems to be garnering lukewarm reviews. The trailer does look a bit formulatic, reminding me of Southpaw.
It does have some star power however, like Robert DeNiro and Aaron Eckhart. Miles Teller plays Vinny. It shows Sept. 12, Sept. 13, Sept. 14, and Sept. 17.
Dragon is making its world premiere at TIFF. It features a delicious 1965 battle between legend Bruce Lee and kung fu master Wong Jack Man, in San Francisco for all the marbles.
What more do you need?
Birth of a Dragon stars Phillip Ng, Xia Yu, Jin Xing, Billy Magnussen, Terry Chen, Ron Yuan and is directed by George Noifi. Catch it from Sept. 13 through Sept. 16.
Not a movie, but a virtual reality (VR) performance in conjunction with the Cirque de Soleil.
Catch this one at the POP VR, starting Sept.16 and running through Sept. 18.
Basically, it’s an inner core of “high-wire martial arts.”
Enjoy the films!
