Produced by Potential Films Inc., the documentary leverages the untold experiences and successes of the city’s entertainment luminaries such as Maestro Fresh Wes, Yuk Yuks CEO Mark Breslin, and EOne Music head Chris Taylor.
Welcome back to The Crossfire.
“Toronto’s entertainment industry has been gaining global recognition in recent years, with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry being Torontonians,” Sheldon Shaw of Potential Films said in a press release. “However, this has not been an overnight phenomenon. Behind the success we now see is a large group of industry ‘founding fathers’ who have been essential in creating the foundation necessary to breed and attract talent to Toronto. This is a film to profile some of those names.”
Some big-budget pictures such as Suicide Squad have been shot recently in Toronto, which has been nicknamed “Hollywood North” by North American TV and film companies.
“The longevity of the talent featured in ‘This is for Toronto‘ shows the love and support the city has for its own. We hope the film will serve as tool to highlight their history and influence,” Shaw added.
The 64-minute screening comes after the 41st annual Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which ran from Sept. 8-18.
Tickets can be purchased for the Wednesday evening screening at Eventbrite.ca.
