John Lineker (28-7-0), missed weight for the first time as a bantamweight, but for the fifth time in his UFC career.
And he wasn’t the only one at UFC Fight Night 96.
The No. 3 bantamweight came in a half-pound over the 126-pound limit, and will forfeit 20 percent of his purse to opponent No.10 John Dodson (18-7-0).
Two other fighters, Hacran Dias and Alex Oliveira also missed weight.
But, the show must go on.

TSN 2 MAIN CARD (11PM ET/8PM PT)
#9 LOUIS SMOLKA (11-1-0) VS BRANDON MORENO (11-3-0)
Wiseman: Moreno is crafty on the mat, but Smolka is the better well-rounded fighter. Smolka can hold his own, transition to a better position, and score points. Neither of these guys likes things going to the judges, so expect a high-level ground game, and technical grappling as they battle for control.
Wiseman Prediction: Louis Smolka via TKO
JOSHUA BURKEMAN (29-13-0, 1NC) VS ZAK OTTOW (13-3-0)
Wiseman: The problem with Burkman is that he can surprise you at any time. He is a veteran of the sport and is well-rounded, but hasn’t had the best go lately. His most recent loss being to Paul Felder, but you can never count the guy out. Ottow is taking the fight on two weeks notice. That’s a tall challenge, but I think his skills and heart will help him to survive.
Wiseman Prediction: Josh Burkman via unanimous decision
#11 WILL BROOKS (18-1-0) VS ALEX OLIVIEIRA (14-3-1, 1NC)
Wiseman: When anyone fights Brooks, they are in for a hard day. Coming in overweight and pissing Brooks off, now that’s bad news. We all know that Oliveira likes to stand and bang, so Brooks will use his versatility. Ill Will has the complete game, especially when he can channel his anger towards something.
Wiseman Prediction: Will Brooks via submission
#3 JOHN LINEKER (28-7-0) VS #10 JOHN DODSON (19-7-0)
Wiseman: To miss weight five times is a lot. While he can’t seem to cut weight, Lineker can entertain, and with an opponent like Dodson, this is going to be one hell of a fight. Ultimately, the power and cardio of Dodson is what is going to be his key to success. They both have power and are well-rounded, so it’s going to come down to other things. Lineker will be OK for the first two rounds possibly, but this is a main event. The speed of Dodson will make setting things up a challenge for Lineker. The power of Dodson will match Lineker’s, so no advantage there. Then, when Lineker starts to fade, it will be the Dodson show.
Wiseman Prediction: John Dodson via TKO
