Another top UFC executive is leaving the company.
Weeks after it was announced matchmaker Joe Silva was retiring at the end of the year, vice-president of public relations, athlete marketing and development Dave Sholler is also on the move to the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA.
Sholler joined the company in 2009 after the WEC was absorbed into the company.
President Dana White announced the move on yesterday’s edition of “TUF Talk” on FOX Sports One. Sholler’s last event will be New York’s inaugural UFC 205 show Nov. 12.
Welcome back to The Crossfire.
It’s been a whirlwind of big announcements for the company lately, from the purchase of the company by WME/IMG for $4 billion dollars in July to and the number of celebrity investors added in late September.
Sholler may be best remembered by fans for trying to be the peacemaker in the Daniel Cormier Jon Jones UFC 178 pre-fight press conference.
Sholler took to Twitter after White’s announcement.
As Dana just announced on @FS1, I'm heading home. I've accepted a job w/ my hometown team, the @Sixers. This has been the ride of a lifetime

Thank you ALL for the kind words. Amazing. Truly. Thank you. I'm closing this chapter with one final event: #UFC205 😉
