Cody Crowley uses body shots to stop Juan Carlos Cano in third round

Cody Crowley’s (11-0-0, 6 KOs) 2017 dream to secure a Canadian welterweight title gathered steam after last night’s convincing third-round TKO win over Argentina’s Juan Carlos Cano (15-4-2, 8 KOs) at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga.

The 23-year-old Douro, Ontario southpaw used an array of body shots to neutralize Cano’s quickness. He knocked down Cano twice in the third round, which prompted Cano’s corner to throw in the towel.

The victory was Crowley’s second win in two fights at the Hershey Centre. He previously decisioned Marcelo Fabian Zbowski there last September.

Crowley told the media afterwards that he hopes to to have a name for an upcoming May 13 welterweight title fight at the Peterborough Memorial Centre in two weeks.
