The UFC announced today that Sweden’s favourite son No.2 light heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson (17-4-0) will return to take on Brazil’s No. 3 Glover Teixeira (26-5-0) at Stockholm’s UFC Fight Night 109 May 28.
“The Mauler” had a relatively quiet 2016, decisioning Jan Blachowicz in his only fight of last year. After narrowly losing a split-decision to champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 192, Gustafsson is looking to make another charge at the belt.
In other announced bouts, fellow native son Magnus Cedenblad (14-5-0) takes on Chris Cammozi (24-12-0), Denmark’s Christian Colombo (8-2-1) locks up with Poland’s Damian Grabowski (20-4-0), while Norway’s Jack Hermansson (14-3-0) battles Alex Nicholson (7-3-0).
“Our fans in Sweden have been demanding another event for the past two years and we are thrilled to deliver another stand out event for them this May,” UFC EMEA James Elliott said. “Sweden has always been a very engaged market for us and alongside our partners at Viaplay and Stockholm Live this will be a can’t miss event for sports fans not just in Sweden but across Scandinavia.”
