Rose Namajunas is back.
The No.4 strawweight turned in a convincing submission victory over the always tough No.6 Michelle Waterson at UFC on FOX 24 last night.
Namajunas was methodically dominant, cautiously absorbing some kicks from Waterson early before catching her in the second round with a headkick that sent “The Karate Hottie” crashing to the canvas.

Waterson was valiant in defeat, trying to fight off Rose on the ground, but “Thug” went to her trusty rear-naked choke and the ref was forced to stop it at 2:47 of the second frame.

Will Rose face the winner of Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jessica Andrade? We’ll see what happens, but I think it’s a great matchup.
Also, notice the class displayed by both fighters afterwards. It’s a big part of why these two continue to earn high marks from many fight fans.
Next week, at UFC Fight Night 108, we have No.14 Jessica Penne (12-5-0) taking on recent upstart Danielle Taylor (8-2-0).
Bantamweight No.11 Alexis Davis (17-7-0) will welcome Invita FC’s Cindy Dandois (8-2-0) to the octagon. The “Battlecat” has a win over Invicta FC featherweight champ Megan Anderson and trains with Miesha Tate.
No predictions on these fights, but I do wonder if Penne can get the fight to the ground and if Taylor can unleash some power striking.
Good matchups.
I am pleased to report next week during ONE Championship Fight Week, our feature on Natalie Gonzalez-Hills (1-4-0)
She is competing at ONE: Kings of Destiny April 21 against Gina Iniong (4-2-0).
