UFC 211

The Andrews Report – All eyes on Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Jessica Andrade at UFC 211

It’s UFC 211 fight week, with the card featuring a co-main event strawweight title defence between champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (13-0-0) and juggernaut challenger Jessica Andrade (16-5-0).

It’s been a glorious title run for Joanna Champion. Since winning the belt from Carla Esparza at UFC 185 in March 2015, the 29-year-old has defended the belt four times with relative ease. Only a rematch with TUF 23 rival Claudia Gadelha forced her to dig deep.

Enter Jessica Andrade.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has dominated the strawweight division since moving from bantamweight in June 2016. Many critics believe she has the strength, grappling and the courage to battle through the striking of the champion and get the fight to the clinch and the ground.

I am expecting a battle in every sense of the word at UFC 211 Saturday between these two.

Former WSOF strawweight champion No.12 Jessica Aguilar (19-5-0) also returns to the octagon Saturday to take on the streaking Cortney Casey (6-3-0) in  an early preliminary match.

Angela Lee or Istela Nunes?

Meanwhile, at BCMMA 19 …

And finally, after UFC 211 , there is Invicta FC 23 on May 20.
