Despite being medically cleared, Amanda Nunes says ‘chronic sinusitis’ forced her pullout from UFC 213

UFC world bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes revealed on her twitter account that chronic sinusitis was the reason for her late pullout from the main event of UFC 213.

Responding to the wave of social media criticism, Nunes explained she has fought with sinusitis before, but this time it did not “work out,” as after she was cleared, a CT scan the next day found a build up, for which she was referred to a specialist and prescribed antibiotics.

Yesterday at the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White wasn’t the most enthused being in the unenviable position of explaining the situation.

Valentina Shevchenko outlined her feelings on her own Twitter account.

The fight is expected to be rescheduled for a later date, although the fight will not be the main event, according to White.
