Kenai Andrews checks with his thoughts on the main card.
TSN 5 MAIN CARD (3PM ET/12 PM PT)
JAMES MULHERON (11-1-0) VS JUSTIN WILLIS (4-1-0)
Andrews: These guys are not in the best of shape, so don’t blink. Both are also making their octagon debut, so a tough call here. Mulheron has more fights and has gone the distance more so I will edge with him.
Andrews Prediction: James Mulheron via TKO
KHALIL ROUNTREE JR. (6-2-0) VS PAUL CRAIG (9-1-0)
Andrews: Have to go with Rountree as long as he can keep it on the feet long enough. Craig needs to get the fight to the ground.
Andrews Prediction: Khalil Rountree Jr. via TKO
JACK MARSHMAN (21-6-0) VS RYAN JANES (9-2-0)
Andrews: Janes is Canadian and has decent jiu-jitsu, but Marshman has striking and submissions. Thats means he will dictate where the fight goes and keep Janes on his heels.
Andrews Prediction: Jack Marshman via TKO
STEVIE RAY (21-6-0) VS PAUL FELDER (13-3-0)
Andrews: The key in this fight is that Felder tends to be a counterstriker. If Ray can dictate the fight by striking first and avoiding the counter, he can walk out with the decision. Felder needs to land his power shots and take the starch out of the faster Ray.
Andrews Prediction: Stevie Ray via unanimous decision
#8 JOANNE CALDERWOOD (11-2-0) VS #14 CYNTHIA CALVILLO (5-0-0)
Andrews: Jojo a few years ago was the dangerous up-and-coming fighter Calvillo is now. Calvillio will pounce on Calderwood’s weakness – the ground – and grind out a decision win if she can’t get the rear-naked choke.
Andrews Prediction: Cynthia Calvillo via submission
#8 GUNNAR NELSON (16-2-1) VS #14 SANTIAGO PONZINIBBIO (24-3-0)
Andrews: Nelson will wake up once he’s tasted a few shots from Ponzinibbio and get the fight to the ground for one of his submissions.
Andrews Prediction: Gunnar Nelson via submission
