Canadian Ryan Ford set to face England’s Anthony Yarde for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental belt Sept.16

Canadian UBO light heavyweight boxing champion Ryan Ford (12-0-0, 7 KOs)  announced today that he will be fighting No.8 Anthony Yarde (12-0-0, 11 KOs) for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental title in the co-main event of the Sept. 16 Saunders vs Monroe PPV in London, England.

“Everyday I grind to get to where I want to be,” Ford wrote on his Instagram page. “One day all the work I’ve been putting In will pay off!

“Well it’s happened I’ve got the call from one of the biggest boxing promoters in the world. I’ve worked so hard to get to where I and  I’m ready for the next level.”

Ford, 35, is a former MMA fighter who competed in Bellator and won a Canadian welterweight championship in the World Series of Fighting (WSOF). He won a technical decision over Robert Berridge in May.

Yarde, 25, stopped Richard Baranyi in July to win the WBO European light heavyweight title.

He has an impressive 92 per cent knockout ratio, considering he started boxing late in his youth.

The fight Is set for 10 rounds and further serves as a eliminator for the British Commonwealth title.

The pay-per-view, set for the Copper Box Arena, features Ring Magazine No. 5 Billy Joe Saunders (24-0-0, 12 KOs) defending the WBO middleweight title against American Willie Monroe Jr. (21-2-0, 6 KOs), the WBO Inter-Continental middleweight champion.

Other scheduled bouts include:

Daniel Dubois (4-0-0, 4 KOs) vs AJ Carter (8-3-0, 6 KOs)

Joe Pigford (13-0-0, 12 KOs) vs Keiran Smith (10-0-0, 5 KOs)
