Former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir signs with Bellator
The slow trickle from the UFC to Bellator continued yesterday with the signing of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir (18-11-0).

Mir’s 16-year plus run with the UFC began in November 2001 at UFC 34. He fought 27 times in the octagon with 16 wins and 13 finishes, the most in UFC heavyweight history. He also has 10 first round finishes, the most of any UFC fighter.
Mir was handed a two-year retroactive suspension for an anti-doping violation and parted ways with the UFC on July 8. He maintained his innocence in the matter, explaining tainted kangaroo meat among other items could have been the cause.
Mir now joins former UFC fighters Gegard Mousasi, Rory MacDonald, Lorenz Larkin, Michael McDonald, Phil Davis, Tito Ortiz, Chael Sonnen, Wanderlei Silva, Matt Mitrione, Roy Nelson, Chael Sonnen, Wanderlei Silva, Cheick Kongo, Benson Henderson, and Ryan Bader in Bellator.
