UFC 216: Dana White confirms Tony Ferguson vs Kevin Lee for interim lightweight title
UFC president Dana White confirmed to reporters yesterday that No.2 Tony Ferguson (23-3-0) and No.7 Kevin Lee (16-2-0) will battle for the interim lightweight title at UFC 216 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Oct.7.
White said during the scrum that Khabib Nurmagomedov (24-0-0) – who has been jawing with Ferguson about a fight at New York City’s UFC 217 – wasn’t ready and was still injured to be considered for the interim title bout.

Lee has his own Twitter beef with Ferguson.
Ferguson, 33, is currently on a nine-fight win streak, decisioning former champion Rafael dos Anjos in his last bout at TUFLA 3.
Lee, 24, has a five-fight win streak going, submitting Michael Chiesa controversially and collecting a performance of the night award at UFC Fight Night 112 in June.
Meanwhile, undisputed lightweight champion Conor McGregor is preparing to box Floyd Mayweather Aug. 26.
UFC 216 is scheduled for Oct. 7 at the T-Mobile Arena.
