ONE Championship Shanghai: Ben Askren flattens out Zebastian Kadestam to retain title
ONE Championship welterweight champion Ben “Funky” Askren (17-0-0, 1NC) successfully defended his title today with a convincing second-round TKO victory over Swedish challenger Zebastian Kadestam in the main event of ONE Championship Shanghai.
Askren’s grappling neutralized the striking of the Kadestam. He then landed a double-leg takedown with some ground-and-pound to pile up the points. It was much of the same in the second round despite Kadestam fighting off a rear-naked choke and the ref was forced to stop the contest at 4:09.
