UFC 216: Paige VanZant pulls out with back injury

The UFC confirmed today that strawweight Paige VanZant (7-3-0) has pulled out of October’s UFC 216 with a back injury.

This means her bout with Jessica Eye (11-6-0, 1NC) has been cancelled.

Both fighters were looking forward to returning to the win column, with VanZant losing in December to Michelle Waterson at UFC on FOX 22 and Eye trying to snap a four-fight skid.

VanZant recently revealed the cover of her new autobiography called Rise, which will be released in April 2018.

UFC 216 is scheduled for Oct. 7 at the T-Mobile Arena.

The card currently includes:

Tony Ferguson (23-3-0) vs. Kevin Lee (16-2-0)

Derrick Lewis (18-5-0) vs Fabricio Werdum (21-7-1)

Will Brooks (18-3-0) vs. Nik Lentz (27-8-2)

Bobby Green (23-8-0) vs. Lando Vannata (9-2-0)

Beneil Dariush (14-3-0) vs. Evan Dunham (18-6-0)

Thales Leites (27-7-0) vs. Brad Tavares (15-4-0)

Magomed Bibulatov (14-0-0) vs. John Moraga (17-6-0)

Marco Beltran ((8-5-0) vs. Matt Schnell (9-4-0)

Mark Godbeer (12-3-0) vs. Walt Harris (10-5-0)
