UFC 220: Stipe Miocic defends heavyweight belt against Francis Ngannou

January’s UFC 220 will feature heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic (17-2-0) attempting to defend his heavyweight belt for the third time against the streaking Francis Ngannou (11-1-0).

Ngannou, 31, has sent shockwaves since arriving in the UFC as “The Predator” has finished all six opponents in the octagon, including a recent left hook stoppage of Alistair Overeem at UFC 218.

But Micoc has prevailed as the underdog before.

Since defeating Fabricio Werdum for the title at UFC 198 in 2016, Miocic has convincingly turned back Overeem and Junior dos Santos.

If the 35-year-old Miocic prevails, he will be the first heavyweight to defend the belt three times.

UFC 220 is scheduled for Jan. 20 at the TD Garden in Boston.

The card currently includes:

Daniel Cormier (19-1-0, 1 NC) vs. Volkan Oezdemir (15-1-0)

Gleison Tibau (33-12-0) vs. Ji Yeon Kim (6-1-2)

Kyle Bochniak (7-2-0) vs. Brandon Davis (8-2-0)

Calvin Kattar (17-2-0) vs. Shane Burgos (10-0-0)

Thomas Almeida (21-2-0) vs. Rob Font (14-3-0)

Dustin Ortiz (17-7-0) vs. Alexandre Pantoja (18-2-0)

Maryna Moroz (8-2-0) vs. Jamie Moyle (4-2-0)

Gian Villante (15-9-0) vs. Francimar Barroso (19-6-0)
