UFC 223: Ashlee Evans-Smith takes on Bec Rawlings

Brooklyn’s UFC 223 has a new women’s flyweight bout.

Former bantamweight Ashlee Evans-Smith (5-3-0) and former strawweight Bec Rawlings (7-7-0) will square off for a chance enter the flyweight rankings.

Evans-Smith, 30, is looking to shake off a two-fight losing skid, including a submission loss to Sarah Moras in her last bout at UFC 215 in September 2017.

Rawlings, 28, lost a back-and-forth affair to fellow Aussie Jessica Rose-Clark at UFC Fight Night 121 in November 2017. “Rowdy” needs a win badly, as a loss to Evans-Smith would mark four consecutive losses and surely put her on the bubble.

UFC 223 is scheduled for April 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Current bouts include:

Tony Ferguson (23-3-0) vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov (25-0-0)

Al Iaquinta (13-3-1) vs. Paul Felder (15-3-0)

Ray Borg (11-3-0) vs. Brandon Moreno (14-4-0)

Mairbek Taisumov (26-5-0) vs. Evan Dunham (18-6-1)

Ashlee Evans-Smith (5-3-0) vs. Bec Rawlings (7-7-0)

Joe Lauzon (27-14-0) vs. Chris Gruetzemacher (13-3-0)

Rose Namjunas (7-3-0) vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk (14-1-0)

Felice Herrig (14-6-0) vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz (11-2-0)

More bouts are expected to be announced.
