No. 8 Alexander Volkov (30-6-0) won the biggest fight of his career to the date, finishing former UFC world champion No. 3 Fabricio Werdum (23-8-1) in the fourth round at UFC Fight Night 127 in London this afternoon.

Werdum went to work in the early rounds with his ground game, but Volkov survived and took the starch out of Werdum with timely strikes that damaged his right eye. The championship rounds saw a faded Werdum, and Volkov picked him apart with striking to force referee Marc Goddard to halt the bout 1:38 into the fourth frame. With the win, “Drago” remained unbeaten in the octagon in four contests.

Jimi Manuwa and Jan Blachowicz secured Fight of the Night while Paul Craig and Volkov earned performances of the night. Each fighter earned a $50,000 USD bonus.
