WBC super flyweight boxing champ Srisaket Sor Rungvisai to defend at ONE: Kingdom of Heroes

ONE Championship recently announced a partnership with the Nakornloung Promotion to feature a WBC flyweight boxing title main event at ONE: Kingdom of Heroes in October.

Thailand native Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (46-4-1, 41 KOs), 31, is scheduled to defend the belt at Kingdom of Heroes against an opponent to be named later. He won the WBC super flyweight belt in 2017, defeating Roman Gonzalez. October will be his fourth defence.

The move builds upon ONE’s previously mentioned plans to establish a professional boxing league along with its “Super Series,” which kicked off in April and featured various Muay Thai, kickboxing, and other martial arts bouts in addition to MMA.

“I consider ONE Championship as the caretaker of every form of martial arts in the world, including boxing,” Chatri Sityodtong, chairman and CEO of ONE Championship said in a press release. “We will make sure that the new generation of boxers in Asia will be fully nurtured. The legacy that Manny Pacquiao and other boxing greats have created must continue. We are reaching out. We shall grow together,” he ended.

Kingdom of Heroes is set for Oct. 6 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
