UFC 229: Khabib Nurmagomedov to defend against Conor McGregor

It’s the big fight that many fans have been waiting for. Today, at the UFC 25th anniversary press conference, they got it.

Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (26-0-0) will take on former champion Conor McGregor (21-3-0) at UFC 229 in Las Vegas this October.

It’s been an interesting year for McGregor. He became the company’s first two-division champion in 2016 and then was stripped by the UFC for not defending it. He then boxed Floyd Mayweather in 2017. This year, “Notorious” avoided jail time after attacking a fighter bus with others at UFC 223.

Nurmagomedov won the belt over Al Iaquinta – who was substituting for Tony Ferguson –  at UFC 223.

Let the trash talk begin.
