Award-winning Canadian country music star Michelle Wright is set to release new material on Aug. 31, some of the first new content since her album “Strong” just over five years ago.
Since “Strong” in 2013, and taking a break in 2014, Wright has spent the bulk of the years songwriting and performing, with the single “Laugh a Little,” was released in March 2015. She received a Ontario Country Music Association Impact Award earlier in June, and was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2011.
The Crossfire spoke with Wright about “Strong,” when Wright was transitioning into the digital singles landscape. Almost five years later, it appears the transition is complete.
“Out on the concert trail, we see the changing way that people are consuming music,” Wright said in a press release. “I will always make CDs, but technology allows us to put new songs in our show right along with the hits and make them immediately available to those that are moved by the music.”
The new songs are “Lovin’ This Day,” a gospel-infused ballad and the up-tempo “Attitude is Everything,” which will be available on all digital platforms.
“My music is always an extension of me,” Wright said in a press release. “Each new song is a chance to push a little harder, and dig a little deeper.”
