Invicta FC 31: Jandiroba chokes out Morandin to retain strawweight title

Virna Jandiroba (14-0-0) successfully defended her strawweight belt for the first time with a convincing submission victory over Janaisa Morandin (10-2-0) in the main event of Invicta FC 31 Saturday night at the Scottish Rite Temple in Kansas City.

Jandiroba worked to get the fight to the ground from the start after assessing the striking of Morandin. “The Evil Princess” resisted in the first ground, but succumbed to an arm triangle, 2:23 into the second frame.

In the co-main event, former UFC stalwart Pear Gonzalez (9-3-0) continued her winning ways in Invicta, using grappling and her ground game to decision Daiane Firmino (10-3-0) in the co-main event.
