The UFC confirmed that former strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk (14-2-0) will face Valentina Shevchenko (15-3-0) for the vacant flyweight title at Toronto’s UFC 231.
Nicco Montano, the former flyweight titleholder, was stripped of the belt at UFC 228 when she failed to make weight.
Jedrzejczyk, 31, bounced back from two consecutive losses to Rose Namajunas, the current strawweight champ, with a convincing decision win over Tecia Torres at UFC on FOX 30 in July.

Shevchenko, 30, was supposed to face Montano for the belt at UFC 228. She has beaten Jedrzejczyk thrice in kickboxing bouts. After losing a close split-decision to bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, she dropped down to 125 pounds and decisioned Priscilla Cachoeira at UFC Fight Night 125 in February.
