UFC Sao Paulo: Santos vs. Anders predictions

The UFC is in Sao Paulo, Brazil this weekend for Fight Night 137, where the injury bug has plagued the main event.

Jimi Manuwa vs. Glover Teixeira was the original main event, but both fighters had to pull out with injuries. And at the weigh ins, former bantamweight champion Renan Barao missed weight by five (5) pounds. But, hometown hero Thiago Santos and challenger Eryk Anders have stepped up to give the fans a show.

Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the main card.

TSN 5 MAIN CARD (10:30 PM ET/7:30 PM PT)

UFC Sao Paulo

Andrews: Markos is a division gatekeeper and a good test for the up-and-coming DWCS-alum Rodriguez. I think Rodriguez will overcome the grit and wrestling of Markos and get the win.

Andrews Prediction: Mariana Rodriguez via UD

RENAN BARAO (36-6-0, 1NC) VS. ANDRE EWELL (13-4-0)

UFC Sao Paulo

Andrews: Barao has lost four of his last five bouts and he missed weight for this bout. Ewell is making his octagon debut. I have to go with Barao, who has both the experience and hometown advantage.

Andrews Prediction: Renan Barao via TKO

UFC Sao Paulo

Andrews: Alvey will retire Noguiera, who hasn’t fought since losing to Ryan Bader in 2016.

Andrews Prediction: Sam Alvey via TKO

#14 ALEX OLIVEIRA (18-4-1, 2NC) vs. CARLO PEDERSOLI (11-1-0)

UFC Sao Paulo

Andrews: “Cowboy” is on fire and I expect after some trouble, to take out Pedersoli.

Andrews Prediction: Alex Oliveira via TKO

#12 THIAGO SANTOS (18-6-1) VS. ERYK ANDERS (11-1-0)

UFC Sao Paulo

Andrews: Santos is rolling, having won five of his last six fights. Anders is good up-and-comer coming from football, but I think the experience of Santos is the main factor outside of just getting caught with a good shot. I think Santos will not underestimate Anders, and try to put him away carefully.

Andrews Prediction: Thiago Santos via TKO
