Just over five years ago, Swedish light heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson (18-4-0) pushed Jon Jones (22-1-0) like no other at a memorable battle at Toronto’s UFC 165. Come Dec. 29, Gustafsson will welcome back the former light heavyweight champion to the division for the belt once again.
Gustafsson, 31, actively campaigned for the fight, and now he has his wish. But it will not be an easy task, as no one has been able to solve the octagon puzzle of Jon Jones.

Jones’ last fight was a TKO victory over Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 that was later ruled a no-contest in July 2017. He was retroactively suspended by USADA for 15 months for unintentionally testing positive for a prohibited substance.

Daniel Cormier, the current light heavyweight champion, will be stripped so that Jones and Gustafsson can compete for it.
