Bellator 208: Fedor Emelianenko stops Chael Sonnen to advance to grand prix finals

Fedor Emelianenko (38-5-0, 1NC) reached back for one more vintage performance at Bellator 208, finishing Chael Sonnen (30-16-1) in brutal fashion in the main event.

Sonnen came out determined to pull off the upset and even took Emelianenko down, but even then Fedor got the better of the exchanges. The end came 14 seconds from the first horn, when a right hand knocked Sonnen down, allowing Fedor to use ground-and-pound. Referee Dan Miragliotta halted the contest at 4:46.

With the win, Fedor advances to the finals of the Bellator heavyweight Grand Prix finals and a date with Ryan Bader for the heavyweight title.
