UFC 241: Yoel Romero takes on undefeated Paulo Costa

Keep your fingers crossed, this fight has been pulled before

The UFC confirmed Tuesday that undefeated Brazilian No. 8 middleweight Paulo Costa (12-0-0) will face Olympic medalist No.2 Yoel Romero (13-3-0) at UFC 241 in August.

The bout was originally supposed to take place at UFC 230 last November, but Romero had to pull out. It was then moved to UFC on ESPN+ 8 in April, but USADA slapped a six month suspension on Costa for unauthorized IV injections of saline solution and stomach medication. That suspension ended Feb. 10.

Costa, 28, brings an impressive 100 per cent finish rate to the bout, including second round TKO finishes of Uriah Hall, Johny Hendricks and Oluwale Bamgbose in his last three contests.

Meanwhile, Romero, 42, is older but still freakishly athletic. He does have two losses in his last three fights, albeit to the champion Robert Whittaker.

UFC 241 is scheduled for Aug. 17 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Current bouts include

Daniel Cormier (22-1-0, 1NC) vs. Stipe Miocic (18-3-0)

Yoel Romero (13-3-0) vs. Paulo Costa (12-0-0)

More bouts are expected to be announced.
