UFC 241: Nate Diaz returns against Anthony Pettis

A old fashioned grudge match

The UFC confirmed Monday that former lightweight champion No. 9 Anthony “Showtime” Pettis (22-8-0) will meet TUF 5 winner Nate Diaz (20-11-0) at Anaheim’s UFC 241 in August.

Diaz, 34, has not fought in almost two years when he lost a majority decision to Conor McGregor at UFC 202 in August 2016.  He did have a bout lined up with Dustin Poirier at UFC 230, but Poirier had to pull out with an injury.

Meanwhile, Pettis, 32, is currently enjoying the momentum of an impressive stoppage of Stephen Thompson in his last bout. But at UFC 241, he will be fighting at 170 pounds in the octagon for the first time.

UFC 241 is scheduled for Aug. 17 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Current bouts include

Daniel Cormier (22-1-0, 1NC) vs. Stipe Miocic (18-3-0)

Anthony Pettis (22-8-0) vs. Nate Diaz (20-11-0)

Yoel Romero (13-3-0) vs. Paulo Costa (12-0-0)

More bouts are expected to be announced.
