UFC 244: Darren Till to move up to middleweight and face Kelvin Gastelum

The UFC confirmed that former UFC welterweight contender Darren Till (17-2-1) will move up to 185 pounds and face former TUF winner No. 4 Kelvin Gastelum (15-4-0) at New York’s UFC 244 in November.

After Till hinted at the bout on his Instagram account and then several media reports, the UFC officially confirmed the bout on Aug 26.

Till, 26, is looking for a fresh start after two convincing losses to Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal. He called out Gastelum on Instagram before the UFC granted his wish.

Gastelum, 27, is coming off a tough middleweight title contender loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 236 in April. But he has been respectable at 185 pounds after previously missing weight several times at welterweight.

UFC 244 is scheduled for Nov. 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York. Confirmed bouts include:

Kelvin Gastelum (15-4-0, 1NC) vs. Darren Till (17-2-1)

Derrick Lewis (21-7-0, 1NC) vs. Blagoy Ivanov (18-2-0)

More bouts are expected to be announced.
