UFC on ESPN+ 18: Hermansson vs. Cannonier predictions

Winner can inch closer to the title shot conversation

Fresh off a visit to Mexico City last week, the UFC is in Copenhagen this weekend where middleweights Jack Hermansson and Jared Cannonier clash in the main event.

Kenai Andrews checks in with his thoughts on the main card.

MAIN CARD (2PM ET/11AM PT)

NICHOLAS DALBY (17-3-1, 1NC) VS. ALEX OLIVEIRA (19-7-1, 2NC)

Andrews: This is Dalby’s second chance in the UFC, but despite having the home court advantage, he is in tough against a tough cowboy who is trying to end a two-fight losing skid. Have to go with Oliveira to break out.

Andrews Predictions: Alex Oliveira via UD

MICHEL OLEKSIECZUK (14-2-0, 1NC) VS. OVINCE ST. PREUX (23-13-0, 1NC)

Andrews: OSP is now 36 and in the twilight of his career. If he can avoid the big shot or the the Von Flue choke, Michel will get him out of there fast.

Andrews Predictions: Michel Oleksieczuk via TKO

ION CUTELABA (14-4-0) VS. KHALIL ROUNTREE (8-3-0)

Andrews: Cutelaba won the staredown, but I think Rountree will win the fight by cutting the big man down with some timely  kicks and striking.

Andrews Predictions: Khalil Rountree via TKO

GUNNAR NELSON (17-4-1) VS. GILBERT BURNS (16-3-1)

Andrews: Burns is replacing Thiago Alves on short notice. Advantage Nelson if he keeps the fight standing.

Andrews Predictions: Gunnar Nelson via TKO

MARK MADSEN (8-0-0) VS. DANILO BELLUARDO (12-4-0)

Andrews: Belluardo has one fight of UFC experience more than Madsen, but Madsen is in Olympian who has done well this far. I expect him to impress again in Copenhagen.

Andrews Predictions: Mark Madsen via UD

MAIN EVENT

#5 JACK HERMANSSON (19-4-0) VS. #9 JARED CANNONIER (11-4-0)

Andrews: Both guys have impressive wins in their last bouts, but Hermansson’s experience should see him through if he can avoid the big shot.

Andrews Predictions: Jack Hermansson via UD
